CHIPMAN STAR SHINES ON ABC

NB Wood used in ABC’s Extreme Makeover

J.D. Irving Ltd – Grand Lake Timber have always been generous contributors to Chipman (a lumbering community from its conception).  This company not only provides work to the community in the woods, at the mill, and the trucking industry, but their support is always present whenever a building project is ventured by the Village, at the Arena, Library etc.

Now this generous support has reached further with NB wood (Chipman and Saint Leonard) being donated by Grand Lake Timber to the family of Sarah and Lou Vitales and their sons Kane and Louie Angelo Jr.  in Vermont.

On December 8, 2007 The Daily Gleaner stated that “Louie was born with multiple birth defects, including arthogryposis, club feet and skeletal displasia.  Before the Extreme Makeover team intervened, their home’s weak foundation was in immediate danger of collapsing.

The Daily Gleaner quoted Mary Keith, Vice President of Communications with J.D. Irving Ltd. as saying, “Enough lumber was donated to frame and construct the house.”

Village Mayor, Council, and citizens are proud of Grand Lake Timber for donating lumber to the Vitale family as part of the ABC television’s Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition which aired Sunday December 9, 2007.

The value of our community, Chipman, and the wood at Grand Lake Timber and the generosity of the Irving’s often go unnoticed.

Perhaps being a part of this well acclaimed TV show will highlight the heritage and generosity not only in Vermont but also here at home.
